Tivives was a United Fruit Company passenger and refrigerated fruit cargo ship built 1911 by Workman, Clark & Company, Ltd. in Belfast. It was sunk by German aircraft in 1943 off the Algerian coast. United Fruit Company controlled vast territories and transportation networks in Central America and elsewhere. Their "Great White Fleet" was initially designed to transport bananas but later included cargo liners with accommodations for 50 to 100 passengers. The ships were painted white to reflect the tropical sun and keep the bananas cool. Seller Inventory # 134962
