pp. xxiii, 402, (1). Illustrated with portrait engravings. Protected in mylar. 3/4 leather binding has some edge and corner wear, mostly on the paper covered marbled boards. Spine has raised bands and gilt. Interior has marbled endpapers, portrait engravings with tissue guards, some very light scattered foxing and light stains to a few pages. According to the Publisher's Preface, this is volume one of six volumes. "The first volume contains the biographies of nearly a hundred of the leaders prior to 1800, covering the colonial, revolutionary, and formative periods of our history." Contains biographies of James Oglethorpe, Button Gwinnett, George Walton, Lymn Hall and Archibald Bulloch among others. Also contains an Appendix of the Political and Judicial Divisions of Georgia.
