full set of 6 uniform volumes, xxxi / 490, 515, 494, 532, 495 & 405 pp + Eloge de Sully (40), I & II with engraved frontispiece portraits. Bound in half brown calf with marbled paper to sides, 4 raised bands with gilt detail, gilt title & volume number to black labels on spines. All volumes show wear to spines with cracked joints, corners scuffed, boards rubbed, vol.III lacks a title label, vol.I lacks a volume label and has a tear with some loss to lower part of backstrip, vol. IV has a stain to top corner of early pages, inside each has a bookplate on front pastedown and all some some faint scattered foxing, overall a solid set with firmly held text, in rather worn cases.
