About this Item
13 x 3 inches (top to bottom of spindle). 6" (scroll case). Burled olive wood case spectarularly carved with depictions of the Western wall, with buildings and trees from the Temple mount. The words Jerusalem (yerushalem without the final yod), Tzion (the mount of David), and Kotel Ma'aravi (the Western wall) written in black ink. Manuscript with black ink on white parchment, four inches in height, containing the biblical book of Esther; Letters in large Torah style script with decorative tagin. From the Bezalel school in Jerusalem. A charming and large Megillah. Complete and kosher. Fine condition. The two distinguishing points to help determine dating are the spelling of Jerusalem which, until the 1930s on decorative objects such as this olive wood, was spelled without the final yod. The other primary point is the colored mosaic patterns that are carved into the olive wood box. Seller Inventory # 16614
