VERY RARE gilded & embossed illustrated hardcover book complete with dust-jacket. "Mary Ware's Promised Land" By Annie Fellows Johnston. Illustrator: John Goss. This is the Eighteenth Impression, published by L. C. Page & Company Publishers, Boston, May 1938. 12mo, 19.8 cm x 13.8 cm x 4.2 cm, Pink cloth-covered boards (marbled vinyl effect), Gilt embossed lettering on spine & front cover, Clear embossed 'The Little Colonel' Trade Mark on back cover, Matt printed dust-jacket. 317 pages. Weight: 606 Grams. CONTENTS ARE LIKE NEW!!! However, dust-jacket is age tanned, damaged, scratched & discoloured, edges frayed, creased & torn, tiny pieces missing from flap corners & from edges, few small marks and piece of paper stuck to reverse of front, ink annotations on first flap. BOOK IN GREAT SHAPE: Spine is soft & faded but remains clean, bumped & scuffed either end, gilt bright, binding tight! Cover is clean with a little edge wear. Three corners are bumped, all slightly scuffed. Ink annotation (name) on 1st end paper. Ink annotations (tiny lines across book prices & small price stamps) on the 'Works of Annie Fellows Johnston' page. List of Illustrations and Part I pages have a crease.
