Gosse [1849 - 1928] was an English poet, author and critic, and a contemporary of Tennyson, Browning, Thomas Hardy and Henry James. Addressed to "Forman" the letter discusses his copy of "Amasia" and the fact that he is recovering from bronchitis. "Amasia or The Works of the Muses A Collection of Poems" is the book referred to in the letter and was written by John Hopkins and published in London in 3 volume by Tho. Warren for Bennet Banbury in 1700. 8 3/4 x 7" folded in half, with letterhead address in red, "29, Delamere Terrace. Westbourne Square. W." ALS in pen, original folds, dusty. Seller Inventory # 27076
