About the Author:

Adalucia Quan was born in Lima, Peru. Her love for ceramics started very early in life. As a child, her dad would take her to museums in Lima. In school, she studied all about the ancient art of the Andes. She was fascinated with the clay artifacts and textiles of the pre-Inca cultures. Adalucia is a clay artist and illustrator. She studied Art and Modern Languages at Florida International University, Miami, Florida. Adalucia also has a Masters Degree in Art Education from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque,NM. Adalucia has been working with clay for the past fifteen years. She has published other children's books in English and Spanish. Her latest "La chica de Mendiburo" won the 2007 International Latino Book Awards for Best Young Adult Fiction Book in Spanish. Adalucia lives with her family in beautiful Santa Fe, New Mexico.
