Published date 1864 on the title page, copyright date 1863. It is believed that this is a first printing of the 1864 edition (low volume first edition 1863). This book cover is brown cloth with an embossed design (front and back). The spine is embossed with gilt title. The spine is worn, the gilt barely visible, with a 2" tear at the bottom, the cover corners are bumped with some wear at the corners and edges. The brown cloth is faded with some wear, staining and soil marks. The spine is beginning to crack at the front illustration. There are three illustrations, the one at pg 68 is loose. Pages are foxed at the edges and some scattered foxing and spotting on the pages. Unmarked except for penciled price on front flyleaf. Colectible Rare Childrens. Seller Inventory # 001551
