leather spine with worn leather corner tips and worn marble paper over lay on boards. 414 pages with last 2 pages missing and publishers catalogue at rear of 8 pages also missing. cromolithograph colour frontis plate with young girl on swing beside a boy & girl. leather spine is firm. part of page 189 (25%)is missing. 3 illustrations have been coloured in 8, 121 and 414 and crayon marks on back endpage. some foxing & light staining & tears to some pages but a SOUND TIGHT COPY. it's hard to date these early books as there is no date but i'm sure it's about 1875 vol 2 (title page has 2 stars) and the back part there are many Christmas stories.
