About this Item
A vintage guidebook on Lima, the capital of Peru, that also explores various aspects of the country and the capital. Originally published in 1942, this is the eighth edition in English from 1959. Prepared to awaken the citizens of the Americas an interest in Peru, the legendary land of the Incas. Illustrated throughout with vintage b/w photographs. Tours of the city, plus excursions outside of Lima: Cuzco, Ancon, Huacahina, the jungle, etc. A few vintage ads for hotels, restaurants, vicuna, alpaca, Panagra, Coke, etc. A foldout map of the downtown area of Lima is tipped into the book right before the back cover. Larger horizonal format, measuring 9.75 x 9 with approx. 60+ pages. The piece is not in the best condition: the covers are very fragile and heavily chipped, torn in a few spots and stained; the item also has a bit of a musty smell; the prior owners name in ink appears on the first page. Sold as is, final sale. Seller Inventory # E5272
