Green cloth with gilt titling and decoration on spine, gilt insignia on front, blind stamped border and bevelled edges front and back, black and white frontispiece with tissue-guard, handsome black and white illustrations throughout, fold-out black and white map at rear, publisher's advertising on last few pages, 577 pages. Corners and spine ends have significant wear, edges of boards have less wear, spine cover has a one-inch split at upper front gutter and a six-inch split at upper rear gutter, shelf wear, spine and edges of boards slightly darkened, text block edges darkened, foxing spots to text block edges, end papers and throughout text, binding is sound, colour is bright.
