5 /3/8" x 7 7/8", maroon cloth with debossed titling, portrait and decorative details in gilt and black to front board, back board very similar, marbled edges all sides, decorative endpapers, salesman's sample with abbreviated text and illustration pages (approx. 80 pp.) + 10 p. order forms + 18 full-page plates in monochromatic blue + sample backstrip/spine in maroon leather blind-stamped with decorative banding and gilt titling tipped in to front pastedown. 'Memorial Edition' salesman's copy. Full title: 'Life and Deeds of General Sherman Including the Story of His Great March to the Sea'. Condition: about Very Good, perhaps a little less so. SEE ALL 3 PHOTOS ENLARGED. Outward appearance quite good though there is some rubbing to gilt and darkening in areas on both boards; bumping and rubbing wear to spine ends and corner tips. Internally, the sample leather spine adhered to front paste-down has bled through the ffep and two blank ep's (an issue I'm sure all such copies must have); the frontis has ghosted upon the TP (no evidence that there ever was a tissue guard); one of the pages of plates is loose; binding seem good; overall light age-toning to leaves; otherwise good.
