Full Rich Brown cloth.Cover is embossed with ornate, complex, double ruled gilt floral patterns on spine. Front panel presents with triple ruled, complex, ornate, gilt floral pattern in a one inch, brown clolth border. Rear panel is rich bown cloth, no embossing. Top of textblock is gilt. This two volume set also comes with a custom 1&3/8"x7&1/4" book mark, leather on the backside and multicolored, gilt that repeats, in miniature the triple ruled patterns on the front cover panel. The bookmark is bordered by a 1/4" field of miniature, gilt rosettes. There is a diagnal crease in the book mark starting a half inch down from the upper right corner and running to its upper left corner. The 360 pages of Book I are rough cut deckle edge. Volume one has been read. Indeed the leather bookmark has over time created two foxing impessions of itself on the front pastedown and on the ffep. Keeping the bookmark between the front pastedown and ffep also led to additional foxing in the form of a single, faint impression from the bookmark on the back of the ffep; a 4" faint foxing line running from top of the text block 4" down the page near the spine on the hafl title page; and foxing in the1/2" margin of the title page near the spine, without affecting the photogravure impression on the title page. Otherwise, the volume is clean; the binding is tight; and there are no uncut pages. Volume two is also clean, with 46 uncut sheets=184pages out of a total of 386p.
