37 almanac pages +  pages advertisements +  pages of diary leaves with contemporary entries +  pages of diary leaves with children's scribbles. Contemporary cloth boards. Page dimensions: 191 x 118mm. Blue marbled endpapers. Owner's signature "B (C or G?) Skinner". Later pencil address on front endpaper "Scotia St Port Chalmers". The diary leaves are neatly filled in from 1 January to 31 May 1865 (40 pages). After May, there is a section of missing leaves, followed by a section filled in with children's scribbles. Also children's scribbles in ink and pencil to preliminary leaves, boards, and elsewhere. The "Memoranda of Reference" page is also neatly filled in, contemporary to the age of the diary, with a list of 20 names and addresses, some in London, most in Otago, including Dunedin, Brighton, Port Chalmers. Diary notes include weather observations. Much time spent under verandah, reading in cold weather. Strolling about garden & paddocks and painting the verandah steps in fine weather.
