8 1/8 inches x 11 3/8 in., 63 pp., with the numbered colophon on the reverse of p. 63; illustrated with six full-page plates by Bernhardt Wall, they are printed in black on white, or in blue, or red-brown. Tan, textured cloth with the titling in brown on the spine, top-edge stained brown; brown paper-covered slipcase with a numbered, printed label on the spine. Hardcover. An edition of 1200 copies has been printed by Richard Ellis for Cheshire House, publishers, of which this copy is number 664. Size: 8"x11.5", 63pp., 6 full page plates, tan linen cloth with brown titling on the spine, top edge stained brown, remaining edges uncut. This copy now protected in a newly made paper-covered slipcase. Beige cloth, brown lettering on spine, w/ open-backed slipcase (chipping, wear to case), NF/G copy, preserved in open-backed half-red morocco slipcase from the library of Walter P. Chrysler, Jr. (1909-1988) scion of the Chrysler automobile company who actually founded the division that developed air conditioning for cars, and was a remarkable art collector, and theatrical producer. First Cheshire House edition, No. 55 of 1200 copies printed, of this American classic with the wonderful Wall etchings. Cheshire House was a short-lived fine press founded by Chrysler, Jr. and Nelson Rockefeller at Dartmouth College in 1931, with this title appearing on the prospectus broadside of 12 different titles issued by Chrysler the same year. Wall (1872-1956) was a noted lithographer and commercial artist known as the "Postcard King" for producing over 5000 comic cards, and who later became renowned for his etchings of Native Americans, Cowboys, and major cities of the West after moving to California in 1930.
