Leçons Sur Les Propriétés Des Tissus Vivants. By Claude Bernard and printed in Paris by Germer Bailliere. 1866, 492 pp plus 48 pp catalogue, 8.75 x 5.75 , 8vo, rebaked hardcover. In good rebacked condition, with rubbing and wear to original boards, primarily along edges and corners. Hinges remain in good condition and text block remains bound well. Light markings and marginalia at front. Numerous small black-and-white illustrations throughout. Publisher s catalogue at rear. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. A scarce piece in the original French on living tissue. By Claude Bernard (1813-1878), a French physiologist and scientist who developed the concept now known as homeostasis. Pease note that the catalogue at rear is dated 1873; this may either be a later printing using the 1866 text block, or the catalogue may have been subsequently bound into the volume at a later date.
