Dark purple binding is not faded, lettering on spine is weak but stronger on front cover. Hinges are solid, very minor edge and corner wear. Interior of book is very clean, no foxing or marks, though light browning of free endpapers. Biography about the notorious Bigham family of Florence County, South Carolina. From the title page, "With illustrations from the album of a strange family who by their own misdeeds have become extinct". J.A. Zeigler was the editor of the local Morning News and Review and covered every facet of the murder trial of Edmund Bigham. Edmund was accused of killing his brother, sister, mother and two adopted nephews. The Pamplico family's murders and the death penalty trials of Edmund Bigham dominated South Carolina throughout the 1920's.
