About this Item
Gift quality hardcover in blue cloth covered boards with navy titles showing bumped tips and spine ends. No names, tears or soil in the 160 pp text, just some light foxing on the edges of the page block and on endpprs. Not exlib. Both the spine of the book and the unclipped, original color illustrated dust jacket has the Folsham Western Story cowboy and logo at the foot for uniform display on the shelf. Unclipped, original color illustrated dust jacket shows a man on a bay horse on a high hill, looking down at a covered wagon train with riders aplenty following along. DJ sports light color loss at dj tips, but no tears or chips, displays well. When the war was over and Jim Clay returned from fighting in the Union Army, he found that the Clay ranch had been burned to the ground by Quantrill's guerilla raiders, and his young brother, Joe, had been murdered while working for the Western Union Telegraph Company. Jim found his mother and swore to be revenged whether the killer was an Indian, resentful of the "singing wires" which were disturbing the buffalo hunters; a pony express rider, afraid the telegraph lines would ruin his mail business, or the stagecoach boss, Buck Galvin, who had the reputation of being a gun-runner and all-round saboteur. Though Indian hostility, white men's gunfire and treacherous double-crossing, Jim follows the trail, every step fraught with danger. The identity of the Big Boss "killer" keeps the reader guessing until the last showdown, out of which Jim finds a new friend and wins a wife. Seller Inventory # R46526
