Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is a fascinating insight into the life and teachings of the Lady Poverty, a medieval allegory believed to be written circa 1227 by the blessed Giovanni da Parma, who, though not explicitly named, is identified by many academics as the original author. It is notable for being the first written account of the life of Saint Francis of Assisi, who was a major inspiration for the author. This book is not only of historical importance but its teachings are still highly pertinent today. Poverty, for the author, is not simply a material lack but a state of mind, a liberation from earthly concerns that allows the individual to approach the divine more closely. The author argues that poverty is not something to be feared or avoided, but is rather a source of great spiritual strength and freedom. This book will be of great interest to anyone interested in medieval history, the life of Saint Francis, or the spiritual teachings of the Catholic Church. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Seller Inventory # 9781330821251_0
