709 pages, a rather thick volume thoroughly illustrated with photos, maps and floor plans, including a section of 35 full-page photos at the center showing mostly winter sporting activities including ski jumping, dog sleds, ice skating races, ice boating, even baseball (!) on frozen Mirror Lake. There are two large foldout maps of the area (in excellent condition) and numerous floor plans of the accommodations, nine of which are foldouts on tinted paper. There is a 61-page chapter (again, well illustrated with photos and diagrams) devoted to golf including hole-by-hole descriptions of their three courses (18 hole, 9 hole and a putting course). There are repeated references to the Club's exclusivity; "No one will be received as member or guest against whom there is any reasonable physical, moral, social or race objections, or who would be unwelcome to even a small minority. This excludes absolutely all consumptives" or "we have many Southern members, so negroes can only be admitted to servants quarters.for no one has a right to entertain as his personal guest any person who would clearly be an 'undesireable'" Plum ("Adirondack Bibliography") lists three Handbooks, this the third with much more abbreviated printings published in 1894 (82 pages) and 1901 (224 pages). Very good condition, a tight and unworn copy, no owner names, a few minor smudges on the boards and occasional mild foxing internally. Scarce. Seller Inventory # 022045
