Slightly cocked. 568 pages including index 33 illustrations (the Frontispiece is missing) and seven large fold out contemporary maps, one in colour. Several of these maps were prepared specifically for the first edition and are here reproduced. (In my opinion, the text is the facsimile of the original 1875 edition, and the maps, almost certainly, have never been opened. ***DUST JACKET in good condition, Shelfwear and chips at extremities. Now Trimsleeve protected. *** CONTENTS: The author was in the service of the Maharajah of Kashmir (to whom the book is dedicated) for ten years. He made it his duty to visit all parts of the territory, so that he could say, in all honesty "the account is limited entirely to the descriptions of what I have not only seen, but well remembered."
