Title: The Jesuit Relations and Allied Documents: ...
Publisher: Cleveland: The Burrows Brothers Company, 1896-1901
Publication Date: 1901
Edition: First Edition.
A complete set of this monumental editorial effort compiling the annual reports and narrative of French Jesuit missionaries stationed in North America between 1632 and 1673. As a record of Indian life during the period of cultural encounter, they are unparalleled, and for students of this early phase of Canadian history these texts are invaluable. Bound in tan buckram in a numbered edition of only 750 sets, virtually all copies went to libraries. This is no exception, a mixed set in varying condition, but all generally sound. There are inoffensive numbers to the spine and occasional bookplates, stamps, and shelfmarks, but no underlining, highlighting, or other distracting defacements: the contents are unmarked and pages are bright, since the paper and production of this set was of very high quality. Many of the volumes have spines darkened with age, and a few have some wear to the cover, but every volume is complete and tightly bound. Howes J107, "d." Larned 3635. Please note that there will be additional shipping expenses for this set, which will be charged at cost. Bookseller Inventory # 15247
