About this Item

Yellow cloth with red lettering, red and black rooster illustration to front cover. This book previously belonged to a lending library. It has two stamps in red ink, one to front pastedown, one to the front endpaper, and a previous owner signature to the front pastedown. The edges show rubbing and there is foxingto the closed outside edges of the book. Text is surpringsly clean and bright. The price-clipped DJ has been adhered to both pastedowns, and was also trimmed to fit into a, now removed, mylar cover. There is a small white price sticker to the heel of spine and a small tear to the top edge of rear cover. Striking cover art by F.G. Strobel. "Stand still, sonny, and take the slack out of your jaw. You're about to meet Jackson Mahaffey, the bigges liar and the greastest gambler in North Carolina. His right arm laoded with dynamite, his hip pocket is loaded with a pair of brass knuckles, and his book is loaded with sin. With a stolen gamecock, a smooth tongue and a liberal hand with the liquor jug, he wins fame and fortune and the love of a good woman." (from the jacket). Bookseller Inventory # B32215
