Full crimson red calf LEATHER with 5 raised bands decorative gilt compartments and black title slip with gilt titles. Gilt shield to front - Maidstone Grammar School. 180 x 125 mm approx. Marbled end papers with matching marbled edges to boards.[iv] + 256,+5 to 256 + 5 to 256pp. Many steel engravings in text, Contents page at front for all three of the publications. Three volumes of The Parents' Cabinet an anthology articles on Natural History, Science, History, Exploration etc. in a School Prize Full Leather Binding. Good (Restoration - The book was bought in dis bound with the spine leather cracked it's full length and detached. We have re-glued the spine with p.v.a. applied an Oxford Hollow backstrip over new Irish linen mull and re attached the boards. We had originally intended to replace the end papers - but on finding we did not have a good match for the marbled edges of the book block- have retained the originals but with the new mull visible rather than endeavor to split the boards, re- backed with a best match calf leather and laid the original spine over.
