The three-volume research "History of Central Asia" has been written by George de Roerich on the eve of the WW II. George de Roerich became intrested in history of Central Asia during his study at the university. He got first scientific knowledge about Central Asia during his expedition in 1923-1928. The first volume of the trilogy provides a bright picture of history of the nations and tribes of Central Asia from the deep ancient times till XIV century. The second volume is subdivided into twelve sections containing broad and detailed scientific information on various kingdoms, dynasties, ethnoses of Central Asia from the VIth to the XIIIth centuries. The final third volume of the trilogy is devoted to one of the greatest world empires of the Middle Ages - the Mongol Empire, its origins, genesis, history of blossoming and disintegration. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: George Nicolas de Roerich (1902 – 1960) was a prominent 20th century Tibetologist. His name at birth was Yuri Nikolaevich Rerikh. George's work encompassed many areas of Tibetan studies, but in particular he is known for his contributions to Tibetan dialectology, his monumental translation of the Blue Annals, and his 11-volume Tibetan-Russian-English dictionary (published posthumously). He was the son of a famous Russian painter, explorer and Tibetologist Nicholas Roerich and Helena Roerich. BINDING SPECIFICATIONS: Offset paper. Chalk overlay paper for insert. Shagreen-made doublures and endleaves ornately hand-tooled in gilt and blind embossing. The top edge, fore edge and bottom edge are gilded and engraved by hand. Full leather binding of genuine light-brown calf leather. The front board, the back boards and the back are gilded and decorated with mosaic binding with multiple colored leather arabesques (7 types of leather are used, including marocain, kenia kid, python, crocodile).
