Royal 8vo. 2nd edition. 435; 468; 512 pp. Uniformly bound in decorative contemporary, well preserved, full roan leather bidnings by Westleys & Clark of London with their biner's tags to the rear pastedowns. Full brown grained leather with decorative gilt stamping direct featuring a harp bordered with decorative gilt scroll work and triple fillet gilt rules at board edges. Spines extra gilt with ruling and flourishes in each compartment along with decorative work in blind. All edges gilt; double silk book marks sewn in to each volume. Lavishly illustrated with steel plate engravings and maps along with many more in-text engravings, all identified bu illustrator and engraver in the tables. Light shelf rubbing to leather over the raided bands and at corners. Prior owner bookplate to front pastedowns and her manuscript ownership to front endpages dated 1929. Bindings quite snug and sound save for an archivally reinforced front hinge in Vol I. Contents bright and neat with just mild foxing to the steel engraved plates and adjoining pages.
