The text was prepared by Mr. Henry Francis Du Pont, chairman of the Halsey House Restoration Board and Head of the Committee on Acquisitions, founder of the Winterthur Museum and chairman of the Fine Arts Committee for the White House. Inventory information is given on each section of the home and offers restoration details for every item for which these facts were known, the provenance of each gift with donor name; also describing the items. For example, in the '17th Century Living Room' a ".Sidechair (William and Mary, Long Island, 1700 - 1730). Painted black, reeded bannister back with urn finials above turned stiles; turned front legs and stretchers, tapered front stretchers. On corner of hand woven linen piece at an angle with its back to Borning Room door and facing the Gate Leg Table at an angle." Each room of the Halsey house and its contents are thus painstakingly described. Approx. 8 1/2" x 11", original color illustrated stapled wrap covers, detached. Top cover with wear and soiling.
