About this Item
Silver gel photograph dated to the early 20th century, likely sometime around 1912-1915. Photo measures 3 ¾ x 4 ¾ inches. No content on verso. Photo has light soiling, a 16th of an inch chip to the bottom left corner and minor creasing. Overall good condition. This photograph depicts a young man sitting atop a twin cylinder, chain drive Indian Motorcycle, likely manufactured between 1912 and 1915. America's first motorcycle company, the Indian Motocycle Company was established in 1901 (first under the name Hendee Manufacturing Company), selling its first motorcycle to a retail customer in 1902, releasing several iconic models in the 1920s, and continuing its growth into the 1950s. This motorbike in this image has a large light, a horn on one handlebar, and the company s "Indian" script is seen on the fuel tank. Seller Inventory # 024541
