About this Item
Flexible hardcover, 204 pages, 4x6.25 inches. With four color foldout maps - of India, Ceylon, map of Europe and map of the World. Contains information both for those traveling to - and those living in - Burma, India and Ceylon. Part 1 is information for travelers to the countries - routes, ports of call, passenger and baggage arrangements; Part 2 is information on India - currency, raiway, routes, hotels; Part 3 is information for people who are or will be living in India - banking, currency exchange calculations, post and telegraph rates, clubs, and more; Part 4 is information for travelers returning from India, Burma or Ceylon - routes, ports, etc. Interesting section on fares. There is a lot on logistics (how to get there and how to get back) and not as much general travel information (places to visit, etc) as in most guides. Perhaps meant as much for expats as for travelers. Many vintage advertisements at the back for Nile cruises, British India Lines, Langham Hotels, Tranter's Temperance Hotel in London, jewelers and shops in India, Boscolo's Grand Hotel on the Mall in Darjeeling, and so on. Some ads illustrated. Very uncommon and interesting. Very good condition, cloth on spine slightly rippled. . Seller Inventory # 001534
