About this Item
A rare example of this charming dispatch from the Teachers & Writers Collective, an organization based in New York City which placed professional writers in school classrooms for the purpose of "creating a curriculum that is relevant to the lives of children today". In this case, poets Ron Padgett and Dick Gallup along with Richard Murphy worked with a class of 6th and 8th graders at Intermediate School 70, Chelsea, Manhattan, to create of body of work dealing with Utopias and Dystopias. In addition to Murphy's introduction, Padgett and Gallup contribute diary entries documenting their experiences working with the children; the rest of the text consists of the students' speculative writing along with their winsome illustrations. 7" x 10" softcover book, saddle-stapled in decorated card wraps. 120pp., illustrations in black and white. From the collection of a tobacco smoker, with attendant tanning to the spine and upper edges of the covers and a very faint aroma of smoke inside. Pages are however clean unmarked and bright, with a sound binding. Overall very good condition. Seller Inventory # ABE-1694795737515
