Hardcover in pale beige cloth with spine lettering in brown. Copyright page bears only the 1951 date with no other printings listed but "Dandelion Wine" (1957) is first in the list of Bradbury titles on the verso of the half title. A tight, fine, fresh example in the original Sydney Butchkes-designed dust jacket, price of $5.95 intact, the virtually inevitable fade to the spine and also in a narrow strip along the outer edge of the front panel. Rear panel flap advertsies "The Martian Chronicles" and the rear panel a biographical paragraph and phoot of Bradbury. Classic collection of 18 (plus a Prologue and Epilogue, making 20 pieces in all) science fiction tales which, while unrelated, are tied together by the frame story "The Illustrated Man", introduced in the Prologue, a former carnival freak-show member whose extensive body tattoos were allegedly created by a time-traveler. The book was the basis for the 1969 film starring Rod Steiger and Clare Bloom, that presented adaptations of three of the stories. A cornerstone book in the modern science-fiction genre.
