Written during an era of big game huniting when ivory was the prinicipal commodity of trade with the interior of Africa, the work presents one of the best descriptions of the life of an African big game hunter, yet is one of the richest records, with fine drawings, of the fauna of that period. A classic on wildlife and hunting on both sides of the Zambezi spanning nine fascinating years (1871-1880). Very good hardback in olive green boards with gilt embellishment to front and spine. Some rubbed edges, some light, tiny marks at blank frontis page. Very good dustjacket having rubbed/shelf-worn edges small internal repair to tiny tear. Some signs of shelf wear.
