Book Description No publisher no date. Circa 1914, 1914. First edition.. 92p. Blue cloth. Bookplate and former owners signature. Residue on spine where old sticker removed. Text clean and tight. A hardcover book in good condition. The original edition is quite scarce. A reflection on the Waterloo Campaign by one who claims to have been a schoolboy in 1815. An obscure title which contains no printing or publication history. WorldCat lists a date of 1849(?) presumably based on textual evidence. The binding and typography however clearly point to a late 19th/early 20th century date. This specific copy of the book bears a presentation inscription from a Dr. F. Russell dated 1914. This is purely our speculation but perhaps Dr. Russell was a descendent of the author who had his ancestor's memoir posthumously published. Bookseller Inventory # 104618
Book Description Unknown. Hard Cover. Book Condition: Fine-. No publication information is present, ca. 1849 or later. 92 pages. This is the personal reminiscences of the author of 1815. "I was at that time a schoolboy in Paris. The institution to which I was attached was connected with one of the National Lyceums. All these estalishments were, under Napoleon, to a certain degree military. Napoleon's last bold move, on whcih he staked his empire, was a splendid effort, but it failed him. Napolean was gone. His emppire was in dust.Seventeen years after the period which I have attempted to illustrated by a few incidents, I stood by his grave at St. Helena." FINE- HARDCOVER, brown cloth cover, gilt lettering bright on the cover, scarce. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Bookseller Inventory # 019797
