1948. Third impression. 298 pages. No dust jacket. Green cloth covered boards with gilt. Black and white photographs. Two good-conditioned fold-out colour maps at rear, showing the Chantry Estate near Newbury. Pages with some foxing and tanning, particularly to endpapers and textblock edges. Binding remains firm. A previous owner's name to front free endpaper. Boards have moderate shelf wear with some rubbing, fraying and corner bumping. Some moderate marking and tanning. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: No Dust Jacket. 1951. A generally very well-presented copy, with some mild spotting and thumbing around the outer page edges, map at rear has a small repair with conservation tape to prevent tearing, but otherwise internally clean with no major creases or wear. Covers firm and secure with gilt titles bright, only minor bumps at the ends of the spine from normal handling and shelving. Why on Amazon do most sellers not describe their actual book?
