Later red leather. 8vo. xii, 194pp. Second edition. Illustrated with 9 full-page color plates including frontispiece as well as other black & white drawings in the text, all by the author. Edward Mayhew enrolled at the London Veterinary College in 1843. He was well known as the author of "The Illustrated Horse Doctor" and other works. A worn copy. The top corner of the front cover is lacking and the spine has some wear at the top. The text is good with some scattered foxing and spotting. The plates have some foxing and spotting in the margins. There is an ink name stamp at front, an ink signature on the title page and an owner's bookplate on the rear inside cover. Seller Inventory # 11619
