1st UK edition published 2 yrs after the first US in 1947. Blue paper covered boards with bumped tips and spine ends. one small paper pull on each pastedown, no names or soil, not exlib. 145pp text tight and crisp w/some foxing in an on page block. Professionally reproduced color dj from the Julian Messner US 1st edition that is not price clipped, it has small chips at tips and spine ends with one chip at head of frt panel that took the top half of the letter A in the title, but still displays well in new mylar. Many great b/w line illust by Paul Brown. Jarvis lived on a ranch where raising saddle horses, jumpers and hunters was a business. A colt is born on the farm that Jarvis takes a shine to but is sold when he is old enough to begin training. How Jarvis learns to ride and wins the right to keep Joker, how they both solve the mystery of the haunted house, how Jarvis enters his pet in the horse show and what happens to both horse and master is the exciting story for all.
