The author writes about many Icelandic-Canadian luminaries, including poet Guttormur Guttormsson, in a light vein. His tales touch on life in Winnipeg, Hnausa, Riverton, Elfross (Saskatchewan), etc. The text is entirely in the Icelandic language. The author, Dr. Jóhannes P. Pálsson, MD, teacher and doctor in the Arborg-Riverton area of Manitoba, Canada, (who later resided in Saskatchewan and British Columbia) was a well known figure in the Icelandic-Canadian community. He was born at Hornbrekka in Ólafsjörður, Northern Iceland, in 1881, the son of Páll Halldórsson and Jónanna Jónsdóttir, immigrated to North America with his parents in 1894 and grew up at Geysir, Manitoba.
