worn, chipped and torn dust-jacket, with original price 25s, "recommended by the Books Society", good blue cloth, faded in spots where jacket is chipped, thin paper is somewhat wavy along horizontal, there is a round embossed circle on the lower corner of the rear cover near the spine. First published 1952, second impression 1952. - The earliest printings of the pioneering postwar biography are quite difficult to find with a dust-jacket of any sort. NOTE in this case the wavy paper top to bottom, probably due to humidity over the years. - I must reply on my British customers and experts to explain the small embossed circle on the rear cover.
