5-volume set. Large 8vo. Undated; published in ca 1878. Decorative red cloth boards; bevelled edges; gilt and black design and titles. Edges of text block all gilt. Yellow endpapers. Full-page plates (colour and black and white) at start of each volume; a few additional illustrations in the text. Boards darkened on spines; light edgewear; crushed spine ends; corners lightly bumped; stain on front board of Vol II. Pencil price mark on front free endpaper of Vol I. Light foxing and tanning to some preliminary pages and end pages in each volume; stain affecting several pages in Vol II; otherwise pages almost entirely clean. Binding firm in Vols I-III; rear hinge cracked in Vol IV, and gutter cracked in one place with 2 pages detached but present.
