M." are admirable draughtsmen, but, in the work of C. E. Brock in particular, there is, in the actual technique, something redolent of whatever period he illustrates. The Brocks work together in a big studio which they have built in the garden of their old home; here, with a well-stocked library, which includes valuable old fashion journals, some delightful old furniture, and a useful wardrobe of costumes and accessories, they produce the Pen Drawings which editors welcome with so much enthusiasm, and the dainty Water-Colours which have enabled them to add "R.I." to their names.
