Trevelyan. Published in 1952 by Doubleday Anchor. Later Printing. Complete Set! "Originally published in 1926 & revised in succeeding decades, Trevelyan's classic work analyzes the social development of England in relation to economic conditions, political institutions, and overseas activities." Books are in Very Good condition. Vols 1 & 2 do have wear/rubbing on the covers. Several slight spine creases with Vol 1 & 2 books. Some browning/staining on the covers. Vol 2 is a little more worn & does have some penciled underlining on some of the pages. Vol 3 is in Very Good+ condition! Less wear than the other 2 volumes. Slight browning to the covers. All three volumes with red-ink oval discard stamp of the Providence Athenaeum upon their respective title pages and ink shelf notations on front free endpapers and again on each title page verso. Original rubbed brown paper boards and spines with chipped gilt lettered maroon and black spine labels. Boards detached but now reglued to bindings for an effective albeit crude repair. Some light toning to interior leaves of the three books but negligible foxing. Each volume is separately indexed. VOLUME I (with spine title WILLIAM III): i-viii, 1-406, [1] pages; errata page at rear. Top 3.5cm of spine perished with underlying backing paper exposed and quire tips visible; spine heel worn even with text block's bottom edge. VOLUME II (with spine title ANN): [4], 1-434 pages; errata on [page 4]. Spine head worn even with text block's top edge with .75cm chip as well as Athenaeum paper shelf label; spine heel bumped. VOLUME III (with spine title GEORGE I): [4], 1-523 pages; errata on [page 4]. Top 3cm of spine paper chipped with underlying backing paper and quire tips exposed; shallow chipping along spine heel. All three should be re-cased but still a complete antiquarian set.
