Hardback Tall 8vo. approx 13 x 9.5 inches. Halfbound calf leather and marbled paper to boards. Gilt banding and lettering to spine. In very good condition. Some minor fading to spine. Corners slightly bumped. Bookplate and inscription to front endpaper ?Augustus Arthur Van Sittart.? ?Ann Plymouth? (later) and ?W.B. Redfern? (smaller label above). Mild foxing to frontis plate and title page. Some foxing and offsetting to folding plan. Some minor mild spots to inside pages and plates else clean and tight. (Plates bound after text.) Else a very good clean and tight copy. 68pp. Illustrated with 11 B&W engravings, including fold-out plan, and 2 vignettes (including title page). Loose in front is an original pencil sketch/drawing of Dover Castle dated 1842. (unsigned.) "The Manuscript from which this Work is Printed, was transcribed from the Original, in the library of the College of Arms, under the inspection of the late WILLIAM OLDYS, Esq.then Norroy King of Arms.
