A foundational text in the academic study of Polish Jewish history. This work is a communal history of the Jews of Krakow from the 14th to the 19th century, written in the decades before the Nazis put a sudden end to it. Includes several charts and numerous duo-tone photographic plates depicting Polish synagogues, Jewish art, documents, headstones in Jewish cemeteries, etc. Bindings slightly damp-stained and rubbed along edges. Front hinge of second volume starting. Previous owner's signature on each title page. Upper corners of each volume bumped, thus slightly affecting pages throughout. Text in Polish.
