8vo, xvi, 680. Contemporary continental mottled calf, gilt spine, edges marbled, matching marbled endpapers, worn to foot of spine, and to rear board, but still an attractive binding. Internally, slightly foxed, otherwise clean. With the armorial bookplate Augustus Phillimore, Captain RN, and his signature to endpaper, Augustus Phillimore, June 1st 1855. An interesting association. Phillimore had a most distinguished career, ending up as an admiral. He was stationed at Gibraltar and is the instigator and proposer of the Navy s major naval docks there. Seller Inventory # A09485612
