Vol. 10 only. viii, 568p. 22 cm half leather binding with marbled boards. Bookplate for Alexander McGrigor of Kerneck on front pastedown endpaper. Leather severely deteriorated with cords exposed along front hinges. Scuffing and bumps along edges, corners and spine. Front board and pages from front endpapers to page 2 detached. Cracks along spine but the rest of the book remains intact. Pages clean. Text unmarked. Original miscellany collated and edited by Samuel Johnson and William Oldys and published between 1744 and 1753, This volume is part of the 1808-11 edition which rearranged the material into chronological order for the first time. The collection is really an assembly of miscellaneous literary works from poetry, history, and oratory that were part of the Earl of Oxford's library before his death.
