FIRST EDITION. Large 8 vo. Orig. cloth. 538, (2) pp. Text figs. Uniformly browned; a good to very good copy. "Carl Schweigger (1830-1905) studied microscopic anatomy with Heinrich Mueller and became an assistant of Graefe in 1857. Graefe found it profitable to have an assistant well-versed in histology and soon publications began coming out. Schweigger also taught ophthalmoscopy. .In 1871 Schweigger was called to replace Graefe. .Graefe did not get around to writing a book to incorporate the new knowledge. Schweigger did this in his 'Handbuch der Augenheilkunde' in 1871. It came out in 6 editions till 1893." (Gorin, pp.146-47). Seller Inventory # 000353
