Kyoto, Geisodo, Meiji 38 [1905]. Folio (30.8 x 21.1 cm). Limp boards with handwritten title. Three pages with text and 46 with colourful pochoir illustrations. = This work contains designs and illustrations based on Indonesian art, including batik, which in the 18th century had been introduced in Japan by the Dutch and had a distinct influence on Japanese art, in particular on textile design. With an introduction by the Kyoto painter Tomioka Tessai (1837-1924). Yamada Naosaburo was the printer and editor. This is one of two volumes. A vague dampstain to the lower front board.
