Two 7" x 4.5" volumes. 565, 648pp. Green cloth, stamped in black with gilt lettering and front board design. Front hinge of volume II cracked, else a bright VG+ condition set. With an 1888 Seattle gift inscription: "Wm. Lovie Ludlow with compliments of Mr. and Mrs. R.S. Greene, Seattle, January 1, 1888." Greene served as Chief Justice of Washington Territory. Ludlow was a clerk for the court who later became a doctor and served as a missionary in Japan and China. The books are standard historical accounts of the principal events in British history.
