Corners are bumped, spine ends worn, soiling, paper label is rubbed, binding is shaken. Overall, binding is at best, Fair. Former owner's inscription on front paste-down, else contents are clean and very good. This is still an excellent reference book. Inquire about shipping because book is large and very heavy. Illustrated with 12 color plates (including the frontispiece) with tissue guards and 245 illustrations in half tone . and a Fold Out Chart of Periods, half of chart with vertical creasing. There is a list of illustrations; Conspectus of Biography; Bibliography and Index. 458 pages. Two-tone beige cloth covered boards.
