xii, 230pp, 8pp half tone photo ills., flightplan to Dresden at endpapers, black cloth lettered in gilt at spine, coloured pictorial montage dustwrapper, the author joined RAF Volunteer Reserve in 1938 and was called up in October. Although potential aircrew he was unlikely, at 29, to be suitable as a pilot and trained to operate the Chain Home RDF equipment. His first operational posting was to Foreness Point near Margate and he describes Chain Home and Chain Home Low procedure and the direction of Bristol Beaufighter and Mosquito interceptors before getting the call to train as a navigator, learning the theory at the Initial Training Wing at Cambridge with navigating training and practice at Rivers in Canada, returning in 1944 to operational training in the Wellington and the Short Stirling at Stradishall, conversion to the Lancaster at Felwell before his first opertaional posting to Bomber Command 3 Group's 218 Squadron at Methwold, later posted to Chedburgh, completing one tour before the end of the war and describing in some detail use of the navigational aids in use at that period including Gee, H2S, etc., as well as accounts of raids on specific targets including Dresden, lightly rubbed at tips, dustwrapper: lightly rubbed at tips, ISBN:1872328202 - near fine in a near fine dustwrapper, Seller Inventory # 40855
